MURIEL GAGGINI(Swiss)graduated in 1983 from the professional course of Western Calligraphy at the New School for Social Research in New York. She taught traditional calligraphy in Japan for ten years at the YMCA College of English, and was a pioneer in introducing this art to the Japanese people. To complement the research she had done in the libraries of Europe and the USA, she became a reader at the Department of Manuscripts of the National Library in France and the Mazarine Library in Paris from 1995 to 1997. Various educational institutions in Japan, Europe , Pakistan and in the USA have invited her to conduct workshops on the art of calligraphy and lecture on the history of writing. Her work has been used in publications and exhibited in Japan, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Luxembourg and the USA. She founded the MG School of Latin Calligraphy in Tokyo in 1997 and opened the Kyoto branch in 2002.
